Jake Henshall
I build software products.
Platforms. Tools. Automation. Usually the kind of systems that start as a messy idea and end up running a real business.
Over the last decade I've built internal tools, SaaS platforms, CMS systems, automation pipelines, and a lot of backend infrastructure that quietly powers products people use every day.
Most of my work sits somewhere between Laravel, WordPress, APIs, modern JavaScript stacks, and AI-assisted tooling.
I like building things that start small and grow into something useful.
Some things I've built
Whippet
A WordPress plugin focused on improving performance by removing unnecessary assets.
Xlistr
A platform designed to help resellers manage listings across marketplaces.
PartsResolve
A data platform aimed at solving cross-manufacturer parts matching.
Nought Digital
The consultancy where I design and build platforms, automation systems, and developer tooling.
You can also see how I write code here: GitHub ->
The kind of work I enjoy
Building products from scratch.
Improving systems that already exist but have become difficult to maintain.
Designing backend systems and APIs that make products easier to evolve.
And occasionally building weird tools that solve problems nobody realised were software problems yet.
What I care about when building software
Software should be simple enough that another engineer can understand it quickly.
Products should move forward regularly instead of waiting for perfect architecture.
Automation should remove work, not introduce new complexity.
And the best systems usually start small and grow naturally.
If you're building something interesting
I'm always happy to talk about projects, ideas, or systems that need building.
